Beach Cottage
dEMM arquitectura: A beach retreat embraced by the natural reserve. Three ground-level volumes resting on the dunes, between the rice fields and the serene beaches of Comporta. A conceptual structure with wooden slats that intertwines and protects them from the Alentejo Coast sun, in the poetic organic shade of the reeds, this summer oasis where spaces are articulated in union with nature.
The modulation of the surroundings was inspired by the local nature, reflecting the dance of the dunes and the wild flora of the rice fields. From the exterior with a biophilic touch, nature is brought inside, with carefully chosen local species to harmonize the interior with the rice fields and dunes. Exterior spaces designed for serene contemplation in a continuous visual flow over the landscape.
The main volume houses the social area, Kitchen, and Living Room, while the other two volumes contain the 4 bedrooms. In the choice of materials, the essence of the region in a fusion of past and present. Pine wood and thatch chosen for their local soul, and limestone, blending tradition with a new language.
