Barrionuevo Villanueva Arquitectos: We understand this work as a succession of defined areas that are put into relation with each other to make a whole function. This is what we try to develop from its imprint. Volumetric clarity consists of determining these areas, giving them a formal identity, and putting them into relation with other areas composed with the same logic. It is interesting to note that not only do these areas have their own condition and use, but also the fact of putting them in relation results in a series of spaces and interstices that link them, relate them, give them particular qualities and end up resolving new areas that happen to be the most important ones in the program.

When we talk about intermediate spaces or interstices we are referring to access, circulations, public area of the house (kitchen, living room, dining room) and expansion gallery. Not forgetting to highlight the element not physically constituted which turns out vital for all these spaces to be put into relation. The patio. A place that does not demand a physical action to constitute itself but articulates the uses of the entire work. This is how we can describe compositional logics and conclude that the physical and formal execution of spaces is not directly proportional to their importance. Those with less material turn out to be more important. Understanding this, it only remains important to find a route linking all these spaces and being fed by the qualities each one delivers. Thus being able appreciate how each one is affected differently under the action of light. As you go through the house you can discover spaces while finding views; projections of light and shadow; as well as experiencing life proposed by its functioning.
