Manuel Aguilar Arquitecto: The KIBKAN House is immersed in a 1,372.86 m² land, a project that aims to create a dynamic, spatial and formal coexistence between nature and architecture. The geographical space in which the project is located is characterized by the marked descending relief that continues until reaching the lagoon. The proposal for this home is to create a direct relationship with this environment through the main volumes of the complex, the materials and textures used.

The location of the project responds to respecting the pre-existing vegetation, which the house is distributed in two separate volumes in a "U" scheme forming the central and main patio as an articulating element through an exterior corridor that connects the two volumes.

The main concept of the project is to create two separate volumes in a public area and a private area. In the public area there is the kitchen, living room and dining room with a double height and large windows that face the outside surrounded by vegetation and with a view of the Bacalar lagoon, the service area is located such as the laundry, wine cellar, bathroom. machines and a half bathroom and outside is the grill area and the dock. In the volume of the private area, the 2 main bedrooms are located with their private bathroom and closets, the idea is to create a refuge of rest and comfort, with spaces that guarantee privacy and contact with nature.

For development, sustainability plays a key role, which is why the project has an evapotranspiration tank or green pit, in order to preserve our aquifers and lagoon clean. Additionally, more than 80% of the existing trees have been preserved and all spaces have access to ventilation and natural light. All electronic equipment, such as air conditioning and lighting, are low energy consumption. On the other hand, materials from the region were used for the finishes, such as hand-placed stone, concrete, chukum, wood and glass, making the home simple in its materiality.
