The project FUNFUN Gallery is situated in Silian 166 Creative Park, which is repurposed from the former Hangzhou Silk Printing and Dyeing Factory launched in 1956. As one of the first cultural & creative parks in Hangzhou, Silian 166 retains strong characteristics of industrial heritages in the 1950s, featuring a single-pitched roof, cement trusses and high daylighting windows.

This hillside canyon adjacent to Griffith Park with expansive views, a large leveled landscape and mature trees are what drew the owners to the property. The existing house however, possessed a handful of conditions that required attention: there were two kitchens, a motorized bathroom wall opened to the living room, built-in cabinets were built to fit outdated hi-fi equipment and a disorienting variety of polyurethaned woods.

A single-family home in Pasadena received a thoughtful re-imagining when it was time for a remodel and addition. Medium Plenty updated and expanded the existing house and converted a detached garage into a stand-alone ADU. Careful orientation and shading devices provide relief from harsh summers, while maximizing natural light year-round.

A warehouse is a functional space, one which might not receive the TLC it deserves for long periods. This means that when renovations do take place, quite a lot of changes and updates are required to bring it up to scratch.

Four individual lookouts on the top of the mountain Stráž above Rokytnice nad Jizerou inspired by the characters from the town's coat of arms. The Miner, the Fox, the Sheep, and the Bear provide a view not only of the surrounding landscape, but also from one to another. They are a reference to the past, when smoke signals were sent from the local hills to the hinterland warning of the invasion of enemy troops.

Inspired by the vast wilderness of the Teton Mountain range, Dynia Architects designed this private residence to reflects both the intimacy and openness that one can only experience in the great outdoors. By leaning into the western landscape, they used locally sourced timber and incorporated natural elements in the interior design to help emphasize the natural landscape.

In a forest, the ground is never hard. Shoes sink into a soft layer of plant material, a fertile mixture of organic matter that helps the forest flourish. The trees nourish the humus, and the humus nourishes the trees. Why not believe that architecture too can be fertile?
