Marbella-based Sierra Blanca Estates (SBE) has unveiled their proposal as Urban Planning Agent for the El Bulto area of Malaga, located adjacent to the port's railway line and the city’s ongoing transformation of its industrial port into a new residential neighbourhood with cultural and recreational facilities designed for use by Malaga’s residents of all ages.

Addressing the city’s growing demand for housing, SBE’s plans incorporate up to 153 residential units in a 21-storey building by Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) in addition to a further 80 subsidised housing units (VPO) allocated to long-time residents of the El Bulto community. This initiative also includes the preservation and relocation of several nearby heritage structures, such as the Cottolengo Diocesan Residence.

The plans for El Bulto will be the first in Andalusia to be carried out under the urban development initiative which provides a collaborative management framework for the city’s spaces, ensuring Malaga’s urban and social development goals are achieved sustainably.

Extending beyond the construction of new homes for the city’s residents, SBE’s plans also include public squares, landscaped gardens and sheltered courtyards, as well as new sports and recreational facilities, designed to enhance the quality of civic spaces for Malaga’s residents and visitors while creating a more accessible urban environment.

The proposal by Sierra Blanca Estates continues their commitment to development combining social integration and enhanced quality of life with high standards of sustainability and innovation, meeting Malaga’s ambitions as a city that looks to the future, without forgetting its past and the wellbeing of its people.
