Incrementum is shortlisted for the best projects in the DSSAward Architecture Competition organized by Studio 34 discussing Post-Pandemic Architecture.
The aim of the project was an attempt to search for the real causes behind epidemics and pandemics with the latest being Covid-19 and trying to answer the question whether there is a radical solution to those pandemics or is it only an attempt to adapt to the situation of each pandemic separately.
The proposal explores some of the governing concepts that have affected human life radically in recent times. The hypothesis discusses the great acceleration surge and notes the emergence of that surge on pandemics, passing through the second law of thermodynamics and the relationship that binds them to the AEC industry.
The solution discusses the idea of creating a simulation engine "Game of Pandemics" that simulates how viruses grow and multiply in their simplest forms, and plugging the principles and rules affecting that process, embodying the architectural composition as a mass that simulates the formation and spread of a pandemic over time.
