The Italian ‘studiolo’, during the Renaissance of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, was a room or chamber of a palace where the owner could retire to a private environment, often lavishly decorated, dedicated to reading, studying and writing. Located in one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city of Mérida, this space was conceived as a home-studio for the Mexican artists David Serrano and Robert Willson. Here they can work on their pieces, relax and use it as a meeting point for collectors, gallery owners, artists, colleagues and friends.

Gallardo Arquitectura: The KG House with 750 m² of construction on a land of 600 m² is thought and designed based on the needs of the client, its central point is the pool that for them is a meeting point and constant family conviviality, its large windows, and spaces are strategically placed so that from any point of the house you can see the central patio and the pool to transmit tranquility and harmony throughout the complex.

'Baan Khao Yai' is a private vacation home of 'Bhumichitra' family who needs a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the capital and vacation in the project 'Khao Loy Resort', not far from Khao Yai National Park. The goal of the design is for the building to be humble and blend in with the surrounding environment.

One floor house for a family of four. The design challenges once again the aesthetics, simplicity and directness of bare materials and bare intentions, questioning scale and proportion relatively to the street without losing the sense of space and optimum use of daylight and views of the garden and landscape from the inside.

The façade was with modifications, humidity and signs of deterioration.The conservation of some original moldings with detachments was observed, blacksmith elements in the oxidation state and non-original aggregate elements such as, an access gate to the garage and a fixed glass that blocks pedestrian access.

Antonio Duo: As a sculptural monolithic piece, this house designed in a town of Zacatecas, Mexico named Jalpa, which means in Nahuatl “place over sand” enhances this concept through his introspective atmosphere with the off white color of the piece abducted from the natural color of the sand in the zone.

Rooted Home is a 2 story apartment for a family of 6. A root evolves under ground, and functions as an anchor. Roots are the organs of a plant that are modified to provide anchorage for the plant and take in water and nutrients into the plant body, which allows plants to grow taller and faster.

AB design studio is thrilled to announce that its Quarry House project, completed in partnership with House of Honey, has been selected as the 2022 Architizer A+Awards Popular Choice Winner in the Private House (M 2000-4000 sq ft) category. Located in Montecito, CA, Quarry House is set in a rock quarry between the Santa Barbara foothills and Santa Ynez mountain range. Grand boulders surround this single-story residence with enhanced wrap-around wood deck.
