Abelen Architectuur: The city of Ypres (Belgium) wanted a work of art at the pond of the Ypres Business Park to stimulate passers-by. Employees of surrounding companies like to walk in the park during their refreshing lunch break. Bateaux à Ypres consists of fifteen boats that float on the pond in front of the city hall. The origins of the park lie in innovation and entrepreneurship. This is represented by the boats that symbolize a journey, adventure and exploration. They provide recognition and spontaneous encounters. While everyone has launched a paper boat as a child, the boats are a playful addition to the park and provide food for thought.
