Rezvan Yarhaghi: Designing a villa in the desert of Kashan, inspired by the traditional Iranian concept of "Goudal Baghcheh" , offers a unique opportunity to blend history with modernity. This architectural concept, traditionally used for temperature regulation and water conservation, can be reinterpreted through a contemporary lens to create a modern villa that respects its environment while offering luxury and comfort.

The design revolves around integrating the villa into the desert landscape, using a sunken courtyard to reduce exposure to harsh sunlight and create a private, serene space. Modern curved forms are introduced to break away from the rigid, angular lines of traditional architecture, creating a more fluid and organic structure that mimics the undulating sands of the desert.

Brick, a material deeply rooted in Iranian architecture, is chosen for its thermal properties and aesthetic appeal. However, instead of the usual flat surfaces, the brickwork in this villa is crafted into curved walls and facades, adding a sense of movement and softness to the structure. These curvilinear forms not only enhance the visual appeal but also help direct wind flow, cooling the interior naturally.

Large openings and carefully placed windows allow for optimal natural light, minimizing the need for artificial lighting during the day. The interplay of light and shadow within the sunken courtyard and the curved brick forms creates a dynamic and ever-changing interior environment. In conclusion, this villa design merges the timeless principles of traditional Iranian architecture with modern techniques, creating a sustainable and visually captivating living space in the heart of the desert.
