Studio MOD: Nestled in the heart of Raipur city, Whispering Shingles is an outhouse designed as a private retreat for our client within his existing estate.
The design responds to a brief that emphasized slow living, nature integration, and timeless materiality. With a compact footprint and a carefully curated landscape, the project draws inspiration from South Asian sensibilities reimagined through a modern lens. Full-height glazed windows bring in abundant daylight and blur the boundary between inside and outside, creating seamless visual continuity with the garden.
The material palette embraces the passage of time—rattan, natural stone, wood, and marble were chosen for their ability to age gracefully. The interiors are designed as a quiet canvas for striking, custom-crafted furniture and statement lighting. Every element, from ceiling textures to marble inlays and even skirtings, reflects careful attention to detail.
Styling takes an eclectic route, with embroidered fabrics, Green lava stone sculptures, mother-of-pearl accents, and handpicked accessories adding layers of texture and narrative. The result is a space that feels curated but deeply personal. Whispering Shingles is not just an architectural project, it’s a collaborative story of craft, emotion, and atmosphere.
