The clients’ ten-year-old son had outgrown his former room, and the entire attic floor, spanning 95 square meters, was allocated for him. The space was generous, yet the low, straight ceilings created a sense of confinement. Designer Oxana Mazurina proposed dismantling the walls and the gypsum board ceiling, unveiling an unexpected expanse. This transformation allowed for the addition of an extra walk-in closet, while the sloped ceilings visually expanded the rooms, making them appear even brighter—especially with the installation of skylights.
A spacious play area was designed, featuring a modular sofa that easily adapts to different leisure scenarios. A shelving unit for toys was integrated with the TV zone. Under the vaulted ceiling of the bay window, a dedicated study area was arranged with a large desk. A glass partition in the walk-in closet contributed to a sense of openness and enhanced the visual spaciousness. The bedroom and lounge area were subtly divided by illuminated shelving units, while the second bay window was designed to accommodate a hammock, perfect for reading on special evenings.
The young resident has a deep appreciation for the color green, which became a key accent in the design—appearing in wallpaper, furniture finishes, and bathroom tiling. A naturally inquisitive child, he frequently brings home artifacts discovered by the sea or in the mountains, for which a dedicated shelving unit was placed at the foot of his bed. Additionally, he has a keen interest in art and, despite his young age, has already curated a collection of animated sculptures. He is eagerly anticipating the move of his beloved fish into this space, crafted especially for him.
