Kor Architects: An ambitious remodel that features sweeping views of the city, the mountains, and the Sound. Living and dining spaces are defined by a high wood slat ceiling, which sets them apart from the raised kitchen. A custom two-sided fireplace creates flow from living room to piano room and a linear boardwalk feeds each space, leading the eye toward the horizon. The clients wanted a highly versatile work/guest/craft room in a small footprint, which was achieved through custom cabinetry disguising a hide-a-bed and a swing-out desk. This 3,080-square-foot interior, designed in collaboration with Terry Hunziker, allows the architecture and furnishing to recede in order to give center stage to the clients’ art collection and the penthouse’s stunning vistas. The studio’s relationship with this client began through a recommendation by a late friend; his spirit lives on in this and another property, located on Camano Island.
