Mahdiye Amiri: Last week, we traveled to the beautiful forest hotel of Chalderah located in Tonekabon. We stayed in villas of various sizes with pitched roofs, nestled in the forest at a distance from each other. The tranquility of the forest at night, the sound of animals and the chirping of birds during the day, along with communal spaces, gatherings, a café, and a restaurant, provided a serene atmosphere. During our stay, I pondered on the design and form of the villas that have been built and the ones under construction, gradually filling the entire forest. I thought about how the house forms could better blend with nature so that the forest landscape remains intact.

In conceiving the design for these cabin, my imagination was sparked by the captivating forms of tree frogs' bodies and the graceful wings of birds. This amalgamation of organic shapes and natural elegance serves as the foundation for a tranquil retreat seamlessly woven into the fabric of the forest. Crafted predominantly from wood, the villas exude a rustic charm that resonates with the serene ambiance of their surroundings. A standout feature of these lodges lies in their innovative roof design. Sporting two varieties of pitched roofs, they pay homage to traditional architectural styles while embracing modern functionality. These roofs are not fixed; rather, they are movable, allowing guests to customize their experience.

With a simple adjustment, the roofs retract, unveiling the vast expanse of the forest sky, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the celestial spectacle above.Furthermore, the lodges are adorned with thatched roofs, reminiscent of the moss-covered stones that dot the forest floor. This natural covering not only adds to the aesthetic appeal but also provides effective insulation, contributing to the eco-friendly ethos of the project.Adding to the allure are the treehouse-shaped viewpoints strategically positioned around the river and forest. These elevated platforms offer guests panoramic vistas, providing serene spaces for contemplation and connection with the pristine beauty of the wilderness.
