The vision is to imagine a house of the future - compact and sustainable, that would introduce the use of Rammed Earth as a building material in Slovenia. Envisioned with the intention to create a space that is close to nature, the house has a strong visual as well as physical connection with the environment.

The Chukum technique for home building stands out as an ancient method perfect for many modern applications. Many of the most noteworthy buildings in the Yucatan use this technique.        

The Seat was not just affected by the global pandemic, it was born of it. Our clients, a semi-retired couple who bought the property on a whim, were seeking a weekender on the coast with room to breathe – a safe place for their grown family to escape, gather and relax. When the pandemic hit, the couple found themselves unexpectedly spending more and more time at their new retreat, and decided they needed a home to match the stunning coastal landscape.

In 2020, Design+Architecture was commissioned by Livingstone Shire Council to design an art gallery in Yeppoon. First considerations were for the site's uniqueness: a narrow, sloping block nestled behind two historic Fig trees and situated beside Yeppoon’s original Post Office. It was paramount that the gallery was humble yet responded to its context. The design delivers a much-needed artist precinct while retaining and celebrating the significant history of the site.

This house is located on an elongated site overlooking the ocean at San Jose del Cabo. A formal scheme was established with a series of large, heavy concrete walls and a serires of patios that configure the spaces within the house accompanied by water features, creating an atmosphere of serenity.

My family bought land in South of France’s Vaucluse department in the early 2000s. At the time, a small farmhouse sitting in the forest nearby had been weathering away for more than a decade. It stood on its hill, fading comfortably into the landscape.
