Mylandscapes: This was our fourth project for the clients. Following 2 courtyard, green wall & roof terrace designs in London, we were tasked with layering, editing & improving the planting in their Tuscany home. The 10-hectare estate is home to hundreds of Cypress, Pine, Fig, Olive & Pomegranate trees, laid out on steep terrain, enjoying sublime vistas of the surrounding misty pastoral landscape and its grand sunsets & sunrises. With plant randomness created by the clients over 10 years since renovating the villa, there was much to edit to produce definition in plant groupings. We replanted trees & shrubs, layering many perennials, herbs & ornamental grasses. Key plants included Westringia, Verbena, Teucrium, Oreganum, Muhlenbergia, Miscanthus, Imperata, Gaura, Erica & Dietes - all are Mediterranean species ideal for the sandy soil & hot, sunny site.

The clients adore modern art, and collected 3 elegant contemporary sculptures displayed in key positions across the site. A large head provides a focal point in a classical symmetrical vista lined with topiary in the Pine wood near the house. A bronze circle rests among Irises en masse in an asymmetrical layout by the house. A tall human figure is enfolded by Miscanthus grasses in the upper patio of the swimming pool, eyeing the entire garden.
