Heliotrope Architects: Paper Cake Shop by acclaimed chef, Rachel Yang, of Joule and Revel, and pastry chef, Gabby Park, is a small boutique bakery selling beautifully constructed slab-style sheet cakes in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood just north of downtown. This small store was designed to reflect the character and quality of the cakes it sells - crafted with the finest ingredients and not overly sweet. Like the cakes, colors play a leading role in this design. Earthy green and pale pink layers framed by cherry wood casework and cake display, highlighted by a beautiful quartzite stone countertop. Cake boxes become part of the graphic experience. Seating for approximately 20 is banquette-style along the windows and sofa-style opposite the service counter. Tea lattes, wine & bubbles, and coffee complement the cakes. Sort of feminine, not too sweet, a bit retro.
