The Erbil-based architecture practice Studio Bryar Ali has recently completed AH House, located in the capital city of Erbil, Kurdistan region.

A home that defines ‘long awaited’ arrival - a home where one yearns to be - a home which is a subsistent part of someone’s memories - a home which signals ‘always’ the coming back - ‘Om Winter Retreat’ is a vacation home for a Non-Resident Indian client. Crafted in the envelope of brick cladded walls, it is a one bedroom home of 950 sq.ft serving the utilities of an annual or weekend living.

We designed this house for a family who decided to move out of the city to be closer to nature. The building is located in the Vinnitsa region of Ukraine on the bank of the Southern Bug river. The aesthetic concept of the project was dictated by the picturesque landscape. We decided to integrate the building into the surroundings as much as possible.

The site of the Smith Residence was a slight declivity between two rock outcroppings that are on a prominence that slopes directly down to the sea. The house was conceived as a square spiral, built up by the lapping of the major beams around a courtyard.
