KOHLERSTRAUMANN has transformed an old janitor's apartment into a sophisticated two-story boutique bungalow on the cliffs of West Boracay. The design emphasizes minimalism, with the entire structure clad in locally-sourced stone, creating a seamless connection with the natural surroundings. The upper floor appears to float above the cliff, supported by hidden structures that enhance the building’s modern aesthetic.

Inside, the design continues the stone motif, with custom stone furniture integrated directly into the space, creating a cohesive and immersive environment. The interior is softened by a pastel color palette, which contrasts with the raw texture of the stone, adding warmth and elegance to the living spaces. Large, strategically placed windows frame select views of the ocean, transforming each view into a living artwork that deepens the connection to the landscape.

The ground floor features an open-plan living area where stone surfaces and furniture create a unified, serene atmosphere. The middle floor houses private bedrooms, each with windows that frame specific ocean views, providing a tranquil and intimate setting.

A private rooftop space offers a secluded area for relaxation, designed in harmony with the natural environment. Minimal landscaping around the bungalow maintains focus on the connection to the cliffside, with native plants subtly incorporated to enhance the natural beauty without overwhelming it. This boutique bungalow offers a serene and refined retreat, where modern design and nature coexist in perfect balance.
