Hora Vertikale Towers breaks ground in Tirana, OODA becomes first Portuguese studio to build in Albania. Portuguese architecture studio OODA announces the start of construction of Hora Vertikale Towers in Tirana, a city undergoing rapid transformation and already home to projects by renowned international architects such as MVRDV, Bjarke Ingels, 51N4E and Stefano Boeri. Tirana is characterised by urban revitalisation and architectural innovation, and Hora Vertikale adds to this dynamic landscape.

The 55,000m² multi-functional building is conceived as a 140-metre-high ‘vertical village’, integrated into a large-scale green public space, also designed by OODA. Inspired by Tirana’s vibrant natural environment, the project uses local materials to boost the regional economy. The tower complex is composed of twenty cubes, each 22.5 metres by 22.5 metres, at three different heights, giving the composition a fluid and dynamic profile.

As the first Portuguese firm to design and build a project in Albania, OODA continues its international expansion and opens up new opportunities for Portuguese architects in this growing market. As part of the urban regeneration process, Hora Vertikale strengthens Tirana’s position as a new centre for contemporary architecture in Europe.
