Sandbox Studio: A contemporary design and build project in Sydney's beachside suburb of Clovelly. Following a considered design process and development approval with Randwick Council, we worked closely alongside the builder and client to complete this truly collaborative project.

What was the brief?

The brief was to to add a new first floor with two large bedrooms and a bathroom so the client's two children could have their own space to grow. Other works included the restoration of the swimming pool and garden, and a new open plan kitchen, dining, and living area.

What were the key challenges?

The key challenges involved working with the existing semi-detached home, which are typically narrow and dark. Our challenge was to create more amenity to the home, while trying to bring in natural light and to create a feeling of an abundance of space.

Who are the clients and what's interesting about them?

The client was in the design industry with a flair for art and design.
