The project concerns the creation of a new residence on an existing plot in a small settlement, just outside the city of Heraklion. The needs and experiences of the two owners, as well as the morphology and orientation of the study area, led us to the design of a stone-built undercut residence with a swimming pool and underground spaces.

Kýmata is a compound of four undercut residences in southern Crete. The particular geomorphology, the steep slope, the view to the bay of Messara and the colors of the landscape were the parameters that determined our approach to the design of this plot.

The evolution of architecture through the abundant use of bold colors. For me every new housing project is a new relationship. As we all know, every new relationship comes along with its unique experiences and challenges. The main challenge this time was how architecture can evolve through the abundant use of bold colors.

Precipice. Steep cliffs. Canyon. The basic elements for the design of this project. The slope of the plot is steep and the view to Agia Galini and the bay of Messara is unlimited. A project that stands like an "observatory" on top of the mountain, from which one can observe the surroundings.
