The Greek architecture practice K-Studio has recently completed Villa Mandra, a single-family home located on the hill of Aleomandra in Mykonos, Greece. Sitting on the ridge of the hill of Aleomandra in Mykonos yet almost entirely hidden from view, Villa Mandra looks straight out to sea and the sunset over the neighbouring island of Delos.

Situated on a steep waterfront lot flanked by suburban context, the Four & Four House knits together the client’s affinity for mid-century, post-and-beam construction with contemporary adaptations. The site’s generous width with its semi-naturalized condition presented an opportunity for landscape elements to organize the sequence of the house in the form of four distinct courtyards.

Villa Vingt is anchored on a sloping site next to the ski resort Le Relais. The upper ground offers a magnificent view of the Laurentian hills and Lac-Beauport’s residential area. The project builds on the existing foundations of the client’s home in order to retain some acquired rights. The owners know the site’s qualities very well for having lived there many years. The project is inspired by the site and its accentuated relief.

Vértigo House is a perfect example of a project which arises from physical limitations and could only be the result of its unique site and the client’s willingness to invest in a parcel which was considered useless for its steep slope.
