The glazed reinforced concrete house at Rašovka with a Portuguese cork façade looks down from the Ještěd ridge on the Bohemian Paradise and generously opens onto the local meadows and the unique mountain climate.

Inspired by the traditional Chinese courtyard house, the design team created a triple-height atrium in the central area of the residence. The introverted atrium combines both transparency and a sense of privacy. Light and shadows randomly scatter on the white walls around the atrium. The design stimulates the free communication among the occupants, nature and space.

Taj Resort and Spa is the morphology of the traditional Himalayan village with a structure that negotiates and creates a dialogue with the contours. The relationship of the design with the rivers and rivulets in the valleys, the materiality, local construction knowledge and memorable collaborations are all crucial determinants of the architectural concept.

Getty grants $3.1M to Conserve Black Modern Architecture. The new grant funding will identify and support the preservation planning, training, and storytelling for historic modern buildings designed by Black architects.
