KHI is located in a gently sloping olive grove in the southern Peloponnese. The project is formed by a single continuous rippling wall that frames a series of protected courtyards at the extremity of each wing.

It was more than an aesthetic exercise. It was a spiritual retreat, a place to cleanse body and soul. The house is build for an elves like young widow as retreat for her soul. The architecture is strongly connected with nature. The garden with is forest like atmosphere was the starting point in the project. A major dream from the owner was to have her first garden she dreamt off since her childhood.

Two large houses on Arkwright Road in Hampstead, since converted into flats, have large rear gardens which back onto a rear lane, leading to some garages and other newer houses that have sprung up over the years. In these back gardens are a selection of mature cherry, hazel and oak trees – all protected and within the ‘RedFrog’ Conservation Area.

The villa was planned for a young family who lived in an outdated house on an elongated plot in Kfar Shmaryahu. As the family was expanding, it needed a new residence to meet their needs and wanted to maximize the advantages of the 1250-sqm-plot.
