The Haptic collection, a collab with a well-known Brazilian artist, combines art and technology.
Portobello, a leader in ceramic tile retail in Brazil, reinforces its innovative DNA at the 23rd edition of Expo Revestir with the launch of the Bossa On the Road collection, Feels like Home, and other exciting new products. Among the highlights, two major innovations stand out: Haptic, a collection co-created with artist Vik Muniz that translates artistic sensitivity into ceramic surfaces, and Portobello Kitchen and Bath, a new offering featuring exclusive, in-house designed metal fixtures.
The collaboration between Portobello and Vik Muniz gives rise to Haptic, an intersection of art and architecture that redefines ceramic surfaces through textures and nuances inspired by paper and watercolor. Internationally acclaimed for his works that explore perception and materiality, Vik Muniz brings his unique visual poetry to ceramics, resulting in a collection that surprises with its tactile and visual realism. Haptic is a creative manifesto that strengthens the connection between art, design, and architecture, positioning Portobello as a leader in surface innovation.
"Simplicity is the most complex form of innovation. This collection is born from the relationship between the tactile and the visual, like a blank sheet of paper that invites touch. We worked with ceramics to evoke the delicate memory of paper—its texture, its porosity, the surprise of a raw diamond that holds infinite possibilities, " says Vik Muniz.
The Haptic line consists of three main elements:
Canvas: Large-format pieces that highlight the different weights and textures of paper, creating neutral and elegant surfaces. Available in 120x120 cm and 120x170 cm formats.
Aquarelle: A tribute to classic watercolor palettes. In a 10x20 cm format, it features vibrant colors and a contemporary interpretation of traditional tiles.
Cobogó Aquarelle: Pieces that transform spaces into chromatic experiences, revealing colors based on light and interaction, available in a 15x30 cm format.
