Elena Erashevich: This salon isn’t just another place to get your nails done or your hair. "We planned to create a club, a space where the women’s community gathers in order to take a break from the city bustle, everyday worries." says the owener of the space. Drink a cup of coffee, meet with a friend. Set up a meeting with a stylist and build an image for the event, picking out clothes, accessories and a make. In addition to traditional beauty salon services, such as hair care, manicure, make-up services, cosmetologist, massage, you can get consultation from a nutritionist, ayurveda specialist, stylist. Get trained in any of the directions and attend an amateur master class.

Layout:

Multifunctional purpose implies competent functional zoning first. Well-designed engineering communications are also important. Sketches for the project were created based on the planning decision. Good natural light is achieved by huge windows along the entire room. In the artistic image it was planned to confuse the fragments of memories of travel and sweet doing nothing, of sweet negativity and pleasure.

Title:

The name of the beauty salon is DOLCE FAR NIENTE. We can translate it from Italian «Sweet idleness».

Design idea:

Sweet doing nothing under the branches of the fantastic blue color of the tree. Observation of intricacies of lines on the floor, applied by the hand of the artist. The blue color that energizes despite its seemingly cold nature. These design techniques have deep meanings and reflections on the woman’s nature, her water and moon elements, her connection with ancestors as strong as the roots of the tree, extending deep and spreading around. It is that feminine nature that spreads through limitations and adapts under any conditions blossoming in a beautiful way. Important details that I would like to mention.

Entering the salon, we find ourselves in the hallway area. Like at home. A mirrored wall expands the space, and delicate shades of curtains separate it from the main hall. This is intended to ensure that visitors feel comfortable and privacy is not violated. The reception desk is made according to the designer’s sketches, as is the bright blue chandelier above it. The chandelier was made by textile designer and artist Tatyana Fomina. A striking feature of the salon, its calling card, was the design of the floor. The self-leveling floor of a warm light gray shade was painted by hand. The designer drew a sketch on the plan, which, together with calligrapher Valeria Kaplan, was transferred to the floor. Hand-drawn lines have a special charm because they are unique and not perfect. The drawing is designed chaotically at first glance, but it leads the “client’s path” from the entrance to the offices where beauty masters create.

It took a long time to choose the frames for the mirrors. Initially, it was planned to use vintage mirrors, but the difficulties of logistics of supplies from abroad forced us to change the idea. The frames for the mirrors were developed by the designer, they were implemented in production, cut out of MDF and painted in several stages. In the center of the salon there is a blue tree and a bionic-shaped sofa. The final shape of the sofa was found only after the lines on the floor were invented. Initially the sofa was planned to be round, but as soon as the blue lines appeared, the shape of the sofa was born by itself. The sofa was manufactured at the private production of Vincente mebel.

The tree, under whose branches it is so pleasant to relax, was created by the designer herself. For this purpose, a casting stage was completed - selecting trees of different species. A large willow branch was prepared, dried, painted in color and installed in a concrete planter, securely fastening the trunk inside. Rough, untreated walls were left in the massage and cosmetologist's rooms to give comfort and a slightly different atmosphere, different from the main hall. They did the same in the bathroom. The walls of the cabinets are painted with light paint, the color of the furniture was matched to match it. In the massage room, a mehendi master (mehendi - henna painting on the body) applied paintings to the walls. They decided to make the ceiling textile, which fits freely into the draperies. This technique allowed us to transform the room and give it comfort, lightness, and femininity.
