The location of this project is in Athena, Florida, USA. In designing this project, we got an idea from a tree branch, so that the house is connected to a vertical structure in the form of a console, like a tree branch growing from a tree trunk.

After purchasing the lot set among the aspens in Woody Creek, Colorado and overlooking the Roaring Fork River, the owners knew they wanted a modern, grown-up “tree house”. In collaboration with Studio B, a design program was set to not only create a house that appeared to live amongst the trees but that would also serve as a gallery for its eclectic, art- and antique-collecting owners.

Venus Bay is located in South Gippsland, a narrow peninsula of land with Bass Strait the southwest and Anderson’s Inlet to the northeast. Hide House in Venus Bay is located on the crest of a sand dune amongst coastal Tea Tree. The house enjoys views to the waterways of the inlet to the north and the grassy tidal plains to the east while turning its back to the strong predominant south westerly winds that are a common feature of the area.

Situated in a natural shelter of a valley at the foot of the Serra da Estrela, close to the parish of Gonçalo, in a place also known locally by the name of Mora, this agricultural property has approximately 18ha of area, and is surrounded by a dense pine tree forest.

Designed for a very special client, this coastal Malibu residence was carefully conceived to be a guest house and entertainment area. Built around an astonishing tree, the project envelops the surrounding landscape and integrates the built environment with it. The sinuous roof creates shade where necessary and brings natural light inside through skylights.
