Hale Nukumoi is the quintessential Hawaiian beach retreat: open and casual—the opposite of fussy. Set amidst mature palm trees, the complex is ready-made for family and friends. Composed of a main house and guest house, the site features a large yard and pool, as well as beach access. An indoor/outdoor lifestyle is exemplified by the home’s airy design: large sliding doors and walls, a custom two-story rainscreen, and layered plantings balance connections to nature with privacy.

High Desert Residence is a Central Oregon home that finds a sense of calm and refuge in the balance between landscape and sky. This 4,300-square-foot, four-bedroom house is designed as a regular weekend sanctuary for an active couple, and a getaway for their extended family – a place where everyone can gather and be together, with a balance between private rooms and communal space.

Zozaya Arquitectos: Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo are complementary parts of the route along the coasts of the southern state of Guerrero. These are twin towns, only 6.5 kilometers apart, although with very different personalities. Ixtapa was for many years a coconut plantation, now it’s home to high quality hotels, resorts, luxury restaurants and first-class shops for shopping fans.

On this 713 sq.m plot, located in a residential condominium, there is a solitary pequi native tree, legally protected and very representative of the Central Brazilian region of the Cerrado. Adjacent to the lot, a green non-buildable area, still flourishing, promises to become a densely wooded forest, a common green space to the residents of the condominium.

Iranian traditional architecture has taught us how to create spaces safe, flexible, and responsive to the needs of residents. And modern architecture has taught us to eliminate unnecessary elements of architecture and not that of lifestyle.

Living in a tidy living space is always preferable, but when you have limited storage in your home it can be harder to keep your house free from clutter.

Originally built as a modest beachfront cabin in the 1960s, and subsequently modified through a series of piecemeal renovations, by the time our client acquired the house its design integrity had long ceased to exist. The forested property, however, was ideally suited to the creation of a quiet refuge with direct connections to nature.
