Tours of Two Stellar Lautner Homes Benefit Preservation and Documentation of Modernism Saturday-Sunday, April 22-23.

LOS ANGELES: Moon Over Modernism® features tours of the Harvey House and Silvertop, two homes that exemplify the experimental modernism of architect John Lautner, FAIA. Benefitting USModernist®, America’s largest open resource for Modernist architecture, the weekend event occurs April 22-23, 2023, and includes opening night party on Saturday and timed tours on Sunday. Event-goers may select either day or attend the entire weekend; there’s even a special VIP option. Every participant receives one free year’s USModernist membership in the Mod Squad ($120 value), which affords members discounts to USModernist activities.

The Harvey House Cocktail Party

Saturday, April 22nd, 5-8 PM

Designed by Lautner in 1950, The Harvey House is now owned by actress Kelly Lynch and producer Mitch Glazer, who purchased it in 1998. They lovingly restored the house with Lautner principal Helena Arahuete. Along with guided tours, party-goers will enjoy appetizers and signature cocktails provided by Vermont Spirits in the circular living room, while being entertained by jazz vocalist Staci Griesbach and her band. Tickets: $290.

The Silvertop Tour

Sunday, April 23rd, 12-5 PM

The 1964 Silvertop Residence was designed by Lautner and built by Wally Niewiadomski, but sat unfinished for a decade when inventor Kenneth Reiner couldn’t pay to finish it. In 1974, Jacklyn and Phillip Burchill engaged Lautner to complete it. In 2014, new owners of the iconic house tapped architect Barbara Bestor to renovate the property, which boasts expansive views of the city. Timed entry tours are every half hour from 12 to 3:30 PM. Tickets: $140.

VIP Tickets

The VIP Moon Over Modernism experience includes the party and a special sunset champagne reception at Silvertop at 4 PM. Tickets: $600 (limited availability).
