The project of this 140-square-meter neoclassical apartment in Moscow was designed for a man. Every detail of the space was meticulously planned by interior designer Galina Shashkova, reflecting the owner's style and preferences. "Before starting the collaboration, we determined the client’s main requests: a wood-burning fireplace and only natural materials in the finishes," shares the project’s author.
The layout is very convenient, with six rooms: an entrance hall, a living room with a large wardrobe, a kitchen, a master bedroom, a bathroom, and a guest bathroom. The stylistic concept of the project can be described as quiet luxury, elegance, and harmony. Warm natural tones dominate the color palette. A handmade mirrored panel became a striking accent in the hallway. The centerpiece of the living room is a double-sided wood-burning fireplace integrated into a bookshelf, with the other side located in the master bathroom. The project includes a smart home system that controls various relaxation scenarios. Ventilation, air conditioning, and humidification systems are also carefully designed.
All finishing materials in the interior are natural: different types of stone, an Italian solid wood kitchen, a veneer on the walls of the shower room, and a marble sink. The windows are made of solid oak, making them very eco-friendly. An unusual solution was the walls upholstered in Alcantara, a soft fabric with a suede-like texture. For the flooring, marble and solid wood in a "French herringbone" pattern were chosen for different rooms.
All built-in furniture — shelves, cabinets, wardrobes, soft wall panels, a bed, and bedside tables — were custom-made from natural materials by Walls Studio from St. Petersburg. Special mention goes to the designer textiles by Khanat Magomedova, which pair well with the natural materials in the interior. One of the most striking yet challenging solutions to implement was the freestanding bathtub made of natural white onyx. "We selected the stone block, monitored the manufacturing process, and arranged delivery to the site, as the bathtub weighs about 800 kg," notes the interior designer. It was installed by the window so that the apartment owner can enjoy a panoramic view of the city.
Galina Shashkova's project strikes a fine balance between luxury and functionality, where the design harmonizes with modern solutions.
