Concept

The title “Halfway to the Infinite” (https://www.hwtti.com/ ) is refering to the larg number of the setup option this concept is making possible for the components of a chair seats and backs. The core for this realisation is a constant frame, wich alows fastening seats and backrests in various positions: all seat installations are built on a sturdy frame with perforated metal sheet under each armrest, the perforation allows for almost unlimited arrangement.

Materials

Thematically, the collection is based on the twelve calendar months of the year. Each month is represented by materials evocative of that date. This is an invitation to a meditative journey through the span of a year that causes the user to reflect on the relationship between the materials used and between the natural world and our relationship with it throught the design language of armchairs.

A constant push and pull between form and function and concept, the materials used are chosen for their functionality but also for their asthetics and to push the limits of the con- cept.  From extremely hard materials like stone and acrylic to medi- um like wood and foam, and soft like fabric and even water. The materials are chosen for their beauty, function and shock value . From natural and simple elements such as nuts, branches and soil to fully manufactured materials like acrylic with steel fasteners.
