Orange Architects is committed to creating better and more sustainable living environments. An integral vision of sustainability is a fixed part of the design process, right from the very first sketch.
The mission of Orange Architects, developed from 2020 in aligment with EU legislation, is based on three pillars: World We Value. From a holistic perspective on sustainability, they look beyond just ecology, environment, and energy. They also consider the improvement of social dynamics and societal appreciation of the built environment to be crucial for designing a sustainable future for both people and nature.
World We Value is both a manifesto and a toolbox to integrate the various aspects of sustainability in projects within a feasible business case, from design to completion. In this way, Orange Architects creates buildings that have a positive impact on the quality of life.
WORLD
We want to have a positive impact on nature and the environment with our buildings. We can achieve this by carefully selecting sustainable materials and reducing the consumption of energy, water and natural resources. In addition, we aim for flexible and circular buildings that can adapt to changing needs or can be partly reused. Nature-inclusive building is an important aspect that we try to integrate into all our designs.
WE
We design with the conviction that a well-designed environment has a positive influence on the health and well-being of its occupants. In this way we create spaces that stimulate social interaction through healthy and comfortable interior climates. We make buildings for active users with spaces that encourage people to exercise and take the stairs instead of the elevator. Creating environments where people can connect, feel at home and live together happily.
VALUE

For each project, we track how specific sustainable features and ambitions are translated into the design and relate to the measures and strategies of the World We Value mission. This allows us to monitor the qualitative performance against key objectives throughout the design process, from initial sketch to completion, while also visualizing how our holistic approach to sustainability is part of the story we tell with each building we design.
About
Orange Architects is a multidisciplinary and internationally operating design firm for architecture, urban design, interiors and outdoor space, headed by Patrick Meijers and Jeroen Schipper. Our office is located in the centre of Rotterdam. Traditionally a city of national and international trade, a city with residents from around the globe. This is our home, and we share with Rotterdam the identity of our company: creative, ‘hands-on’, proactive and international.
We believe that we can make a better living environment together. With our integral approach sustainability is an important design ambition in all our buildings right from the first sketches. We work on the basis of a broad definition of sustainability, built upon three pillars: WORLD | WE | VALUE.
Our mission is to incorporate and unite these themes in all our projects, from the first sketches to completion. This is the way we want to make buildings that positively influence the quality of life.
