This french rustic stone house furnished without excess reveals the beauty of raw materials. In the heart of downtown Bordeaux, France, ‘Sacre Coeur, stone house’ by Theo Coutanceau Domini, takes shape as a restructured and redone ruin in which the main living space combines all the functions.

Inspired by the traditional Chinese courtyard house, the design team created a triple-height atrium in the central area of the residence. The introverted atrium combines both transparency and a sense of privacy. Light and shadows randomly scatter on the white walls around the atrium. The design stimulates the free communication among the occupants, nature and space.

Sound House is a 5,500sf single-family home on a steep slope site in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood. The program for the house was unique, in that it needed to house a large blended family of two adults and six children living together for the first time.
