Paradyż Designers International Edition Winners Announced!

The third edition of the Paradyż Designers Competition organised by Ceramika Paradyż, under the auspices of ArchDaily, has come to an end. This was the first international edition of this prestigious competition. The jury, chaired by Jürgen Mayer H., selected the best projects submitted from around the globe presenting a bold, original and unconventional approach to spatial and product design using large-format TRI-D sintered stone slabs.

The participants were tasked with creating a 3D architectural visualisation presenting a spatial arrangement or products using large-format TRI-D sintered stone slabs, with 3 categories to choose from: “Main”, “Student Project”, and “Special”, which included the following TRI-D sintered stone slabs: Product, Outdoor and Interiors.

Almost 1,000 entries from all over the world were submitted in the competition, the best of which were selected by the jury to advance to the second stage that included projects from Poland, Spain, Italy, Ukraine, Malaysia, South Africa, USA, Egypt, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Turkey.

The entries were assessed by a jury composed of: Jürgen Mayer H. (Chairperson of the Jury, architect and artist, founder of J. MAYER H.), David Basulto (architect, founder and editor-in-chief of ArchDaily), Didier F. Faustino (architect and artist, Director of Mésarchitecture studio), Agnieszka Kalinowska-Sołtys (architect, President of the Association of Polish Architects, partner and member of the board at APA Wojciechowski), Oskar Zięta (architect, process designer, artist and founder of Zieta Prozessdesign), Ewa P. Porębska (architect, architecture critic), Szymon Hanczar (architect, university lecturer at the Wrocław Academy of Arts and Design, founder of hanczar studio), Przemo Łukasik (architect, founder of medusagroup), Magdalena Federowicz-Boule (architect, CEO and Creative Director at Tremend), Jo Jurga (architect, spatial designer, researcher and university lecturer), Aldona Chudzicka (Product Development Director at Ceramika Paradyż), and Alek Pluta (architect, winner of the 2nd edition of the Paradyż Designers competition, founder of Nomadd Studio). The content curator of Paradyż Designers was Marcin Szczelina, an architecture critic and curator, also the creator and editor-in-chief of the Architecture Snob magazine.

In the Main category, intended for architects and interior designers, the jury selected three prizewinners.

The winner of the first prize in the Main category worth €10,000 and a trip to the 2024 Salone Internazionale del Mobile Furniture Fair is Selçuk Kişmir of Fabric.a from Turkey.

The second prize in the Main category worth €5,000 and a trip to the 2024 Salone Internazionale del Mobile Furniture Fair goes to Mostafa Salem from Egypt.

The third prize in the Main category worth €3,000 and a trip to the 2024 Salone Internazionale del Mobile Furniture Fair is awarded to Agata Gała of blank studio in Poland.

Students across the world studying in art- and architecture-related fields vied for three prizes in the Student Project category.

The winner of the first prize in the Student Project category worth €2,000 and a trip to the 2024 Salone Internazionale del Mobile Furniture Fair is Piotr Hańderek from Poland, who is reading architecture at the Cracow University of Technology.

The second prize in the Student Project category worth €1,000 and a trip to the 2024 Salone Internazionale del Mobile Furniture Fair goes to Szczepan Zalewski, Polish architecture student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

The third prize in the Student Project category in the form of a trip to the 2024 Salone Internazionale del Mobile Furniture Fair is awarded to Ohireme Uanzekin from Nigeria who is studying architecture at the Heriot-Watt University Dubai.

The jury also conferred prizes in the Special category for the use and application of TRI-D sintered stone slabs as a product, both in interiors and outdoors (accessory structures and hardscaping).

The prize in the Special category comprising a product worth €1,000 and trip to the 2024 Salone Internazionale del Mobile Furniture Fair is awarded to Małgorzata Niedzielska of Niedzielska architektura from Poland.

The “Outdoors” Special category prize worth €1,000 and a trip to the 2024 Salone Internazionale del Mobile Furniture Fair goes to Mostafa Salem from Egypt, who is also being awarded second prize in the Main category.

The winners of the prize in the “Interiors” Special category worth €1,000 and a trip to the 2024 Salone Internazionale del Mobile Furniture Fair are Marta Żebrowska-Wojczuk and Weronika Król of mow.design studio in Poland.

The award ceremony will be held in May in Warsaw. The competition organiser will provide more details in due course.
