Aleksandra Tirnovschi, an interior designer HOME ZONE by A.Tirnovschi, created two children’s room for girls of different ages. It should be noted that the interior of these two rooms is based on one concept – “Pancakes with Blueberries”. Yes, you heard that right :) The older sister chose the photo of “Pancakes with Blueberries” as the concept for their room’s interior. In turn, the younger sister also wanted the same concept. The age difference between the girls is 6 years.
So, to start to working on the interior, a similar color palette was developed: deep purple in combination with the color of mist. However, for room #1 (the older sister’s room), the accent color is mustard, and for room #2 (the younger sister’s room), several accents were added: mustard, sky blue and pink. Textures, wood, soft textiles, matte surfaces and rounded shapes were added to complement the color palette. Additionally, work was done on architecture of the rooms. Initially, the space had low ceilings with improper proportions. Despite only being able to raise the ceiling by 10 cm, it greatly improved the comfort of the space.
In room #1, wall-mounted wardrobes were designed not only as storage but also as an interesting decorative element. To add a touch of tenderness to the interior, a soft headboard resembling pancakes, was designed, complementing the work chair and bedside table. Since the older sister loves to read, a library was developed inside the side wall of the wardrobe. Additionally, a larger library with a desk was placed on the opposite wall.
In room #2, the existing cabinets were built into a niche to make them less visible and instantly transform the room’s space. A mural painting on the central wall diverted attention from the irregular geometry of the room and created a fabulous atmosphere. A roomy chest of drawers for books was created, highlighting the reading area. The weightless canopy in the bed area added lightness and mystery to the interior.
Working on the interior of children’s rooms is always very responsible and exciting. After all, what surrounds us directly impacts us. This is especially important for children, as the mental development and perception of the world are influenced by their surroundings. Therefore, when developing interiors for children’s rooms, we try to listen to our young customers and understand their inner world, rather than just following fashion trends.
