The second phase of 1 Square Phillips is a companion to what is currently Montreal’s tallest residential tower. Located on historic Square Phillips on Ste-Catherine, the project is designed by architecture firm MSDL Architects, known for their work in sustainable design.
The project is intended to work in symbiosis with its location, including not just residences but 17,000 square feet of common areas, including co-working spaces and lounge areas.
4. 400 Dowd
Even as new and exciting projects rise across Montreal, the city is rich with historical architecture that gives it so much of its character. The story of 400 Dowd is combining that historic past with contemporary luxury.
The project is anchored around a red-brick former textile mill half a block from St. Patrick’s Basilica. Preservation of the landmark honors Montreal’s industrial past while adding a glass-and-steel high-rise that will provide 120 condos from studios to 2-bedrooms. The project developers have approached the design of these units with an eye to enhancing the living experience and eschewing cookie-cutter concepts.
400 Dowd continues the growth of Montreal’s Quartier International, stitching together the historic Old Port with downtown.
5. Le Nordelec
This massive project has transformed Griffin town. The project rehabilitated the 1913 Northern Electric Building, which at its peak saw 12,000 workers descend on its red-brick building every day.
Le Nordelec transformed this industrial complex into a massive residential complex featuring New York loft-style spaces right on the Lachine Canal. Le Nordelec combines beautiful living spaces, incredible views of the city skyline, and quality materials in a huge heritage preservation project.
