Entrants will produce a design proposal for a mixed-use development from our chosen site. The submission will be based on the local community's needs, as determined by the research conducted by the participant. Students will create a five-minute video submission of the design proposal for a mixed-use development project. Entrants will have access to 3D point clouds, CAD files, and Revit files. The site is to be provided by Existing Conditions. In addition, all participants will electronically submit a three-page PDF of the design proposal. Applicants can work independently or in teams of up to four members.
The Existing Conditions Innovation Challenge will create a proposal that will help make the building industry more vibrant, advanced, and collaborative. The jury will judge each entry based on its approach to the following parameters: analysis & concept, graphic representation, context & environment, mass & structure, scale & space, and technical skill. There will be first place, second place, and third place winners announced, along with five honorable mentions, and ten shortlisted entries. The winner will receive over $5,000 in prizes, including internships and/or externships, cash stipends, and a real-world site visit to a high-profile site as Existing Conditions performs a 3D laser scan and existing conditions survey (locations are to be determined). During the awards ceremony, there will be a display of some of the most innovative entries we received.
