Raw architecture, rusticity and a gallery of textured heritage narrate this design hotel.

With a history spanning over 700 years, the design hotel 1280 Krone, situated in the mountainous southwest German state of Baden-Württemberg, emerges as the oldest inn in Geisingen, unveiling a compelling narrative through a transformative restoration of its rich heritage. Nestled between Stuttgart and Zürich, with equal proximity to Lake Constance, the Danube Valley, and the Black Forest, 1280 Krone beckons to discerning travelers seeking refined experiences.

1280 Krone, once neglected and in disrepair, stood at risk of losing its vibrant history, along with the weathered walls that bore witness to its evolution from a quaint manor house to a residential abode, a farmer's depot, and even a pizzeria. Through meticulous deconstruction and thoughtful reconstruction, Krone now comprises four interconnected buildings, including a barn, forming a harmonious ensemble of historical charm.

Under the stewardship of owner Christoph von Bothmer and the expertise of local architect Markus Uhrig, Krone underwent a transformation that seamlessly integrated modern elements while preserving its authentic character. Local artisans and craftsmen contributed to the restoration, enhancing interiors with a sincere reverence for tradition and authenticity.

The result is a testament to Krone's essence, where exposed stone walls, timber floors, and wooden beams coexist with contemporary additions, creating a tactile environment that resonates with history. The exterior retains echoes of its past, while the interior exudes a refined simplicity, adorned with oatmeal linens, brass pendant lights, and designer furnishings that accentuate the hotel's natural allure.

Throughout its spaces, blackened steel accents and modern fixtures, such as egg-shaped bathtubs and freestanding sinks, infuse a touch of urban sophistication. From its charming façade adorned with red shutters to its atmospheric vaulted cellars, Krone invites guests to immerse themselves in its storied past and contemporary comforts. Hotel 1280 Krone stands as a testament to thoughtful preservation, offering a rare blend of history and modern luxury under the attentive care of its gracious hosts.

With 29 bedrooms spread across the trio of structures, the accommodations offer a diverse array of options, fitting for a building with centuries of history. Indeed, Krone embraces its unique features, ingeniously incorporating them to craft rooms suitable for every traveler, adorned with a muted color palette of creamy latte tones, soft greys, and darkened steel accents.

For those seeking coziness, retreat to the "Cosy Room," replete with charming alcoves and corners. The Signature Rooms exude character, boasting meticulously restored rafters that serve as elegant reminders of the property's heritage. For extended stays, opt for a studio equipped with a compact kitchenette and space for an additional bed. The suites showcase Krone's commitment to luxury and indulgence, elevating the guest experience with lavish amenities. The Spa Suite, in particular, is irresistible, spanning two floors and nestled within the enchanting roof truss, complete with a private sauna and a balcony.

Breakfast at 1280 Krone is a noteworthy affair, featuring a robust menu that seamlessly transitions into brunch, ensuring you're fueled for adventures in the mountains. The spread includes an array of small plates showcasing local cheeses, assorted meats, eggs prepared to your liking, smoked salmon,

yogurt with granola, fresh fruits, artisanal bread, and house-made jams, all complemented by expertly crafted coffee and freshly pressed juices.

As the day progresses, venture into the atmospheric cellar-bar accessed through a captivating golden tunnel, a favorite spot among locals and visitors alike. Join the crowd and indulge in signature cocktails like the gin fizz or the house aperitif, or explore the curated beer selection and regional wines. Adjacent to the hotel lies the renowned restaurant Zum Hecht, highly recommended for its culinary offerings. Under the direction of Chef Robert Müller, who has helmed the establishment for over two decades and also serves as the co-managing director of Krone, enjoy a delectable fusion of regional and European cuisines that promise both authenticity and irresistible flavor.
